FRESH AIR is contributing a substantial body of work on children’s respiratory health, the majority of which has been scheduled for special session in Porto at 16.20.

Topics will include:

  • Assessment and treatment of acute respiratory illness in children under 5 years of age, including prevalence and outcome of atypical bacterial pneumonia
  • Perspectives and practices of caregivers and healthcare providers about lower respiratory illnesses among under 5s and questioning if asthma is under-diagnosed
  • Overuse of antibiotics for children under 5 years of age
  • Diagnostic terminology used for young children with recurrent lower respiratory illness 
  • Beliefs of children with asthma and their caregivers about the use of complementary and alternative medicine.
